Logo SAMOnce again, let us turn the pages of time and trace back the overturning of events that led to the establishment of the School of Allied Medicine. The series from Pag-Asa to Matalaba and Boac MSC Campus will bridge history and the present status of SAM. In the past Marinduque Community College was situated in Brgy. Pag-Asa, Sta. Cruz.

The College was supported by Mayor Percival P. Morales administration who contemplated the offering of Midwifery course in 1989. Faculty instructors were full-time doctors and nurses. Affiliating agencies include Sta. Cruz District Hospital, Rural Health Unit in Sta. Cruz and Boac, Marcopper Medical Center and Marinduque Provincial Hospital. In April 1991, MCC produces its first batch of 40 Midwifery graduates. In 1993, Congresswoman Carmencita O. Reyes mandated the incorporation of MCC with Marinduque State College by Virtue of R.A. 7319. Starting school year 1991-1993 MSC Sta. Cruz offered 3 major courses such as Midwifery, Bachelor of Arts (AB), BEEd, Computer Secretarial and Computer Programming. In 1995, the School of Midwifery transferred to Matalaba, Sta. Cruz under the new College President; Dr. Rodrigo Monterey Sr. In that significant year, the School of Allied Medicine was established. The pioneers during the time were, Dean Lorna B. Cordero, Filipina S. Lavares, Miss Jean P. Alfante, Imelda L. Rey, and Theresa Asion Pastorfide. In year 1999, President Monterey gradually phased out the course offering of SAM. In the following year, Dr. Isidro Sotto became the president of MSC. Mrs. Filipina Lavares the present principal of School of Midwifery, SAM with the help of Miss Jean P. Alfante, Mrs. Imelda Rey, revived the Ladderized Health Curriculum Program with the assistance of Dr. Carlos J. Andam-VP for Instruction and approved by the MSC Board of Trustees Resolution No.16 s.2002 during its 56th regular meeting on March 19, 2002.

The MSC Board of Trustees authorized SAM to offer the first two level of the Progressive Ladderized Health Curriculum Program, provided for an evaluation of the curricular program after a year of offering level 1 before offering levels 3 and 4. Thus, Ladderized Curriculum won favor and support from the Provincial government of Marinduque, the Provincial Health Office and the Liga ng mga Barangay. The Board of Trustees recommended the transfer of SAM to MSC Boac campus in 2004 in support of the offering of the Ladderized Health Curriculum Program leading to BS Nursing. In April 18, 2005 the Commission on Higher Education Technical Panel evaluated the School of Allied Medicine and was given requirements to comply for the offering of Nursing. After compliance with the CHED requirements, SAM was re-evaluated by the CHED Technical Panel on March 3, 2006. The approval was finally granted by MSC Board of Trustees during the 7lst Regular meeting on March 7, 2006 with the BOT Resolution No.12 s.2006 the offering of level 3.In April 2007 with the effort of Mrs. Florita Santic former principal of SAM TESDA finally released the certificate of accreditation of Caregiver and Health Aid course of SAM. With the helped of administration, DEAN of SAM Mrs. Estelita Dela Santa and SAM faculty Last November 12, 2007 CHED recommended continuing offering the BSN program of School of Allied Medicine, Marinduque State College.
