Logo SSTEDThe Marinduque State College, School of Education (MSC-SED), erstwhile the Related Subject Section (RSS) later called the Professional Industrial Education Department (PIED), had its beginning in 1976 when the Department of Education Secretary Juan L. Manuel issued the second endorsement dated September 12 permitting the Marinduque School of Arts and Trades (MSA T) to offer Bachelor of Science in Industrial Education (BSIE) with major fields in Women's Vocational Course (WVC), Automotive, Electricity, Machine Shop, Drafting, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

Starting school year 1977-1978, the BSIE course was opened with thirty (30) students, the pioneer batch wherein twenty-seven (27) graduated, 70% passed the teacher's Board Examination and all presently employed.

In 1983, Batas Pambansa BIg. 377 authored by then Congresswoman Carmencita O. Reyes, converting MSA T to Marinduque Institute of Science and Technology (MIST) provided opportunities for the offering of other courses which include the Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSE). Starting school year 1990-1991, BSE with majors in Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Social Studies was opened. Hence, from that year, the school has been offering two Teacher Education courses, the BSIE and the BSE.

On March 30, 1992, R.A. 7319 authored by Congresswoman Carmencita O. Reyes paved the way for the conversion of Marinduque Community College (MCC) in Santa Cruz, Marinduque as branch of MSC. In effect, Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEEd) of that school became a part of the School of Education curricular offerings.

Due to the need of a laboratory school for the In-campus and Off-campus Student Teaching, the High School Department was established. However, effective 1997-1998 the same laboratory school was phased out to effect RA 8292 provision that sues like MSC must focus on providing higher education and not basic education. The phasing out of this school was gradual and the last batch of secondary graduates was in school year 2000-2001. Establishing linkages with the School Division of Marinduque helped much in the Student Teaching Program of the College.

MSC curricula were evaluated and found out that the BSIE curriculum was the duplication of the Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology with majors in technology courses. To make the course offerings relevant to the present needs, BSIE was phased out during the school year 1996-1997 and was replaced by the BSE major in Technology and Home Economics (THE). In the year 1999-2000, Physical Education, Health and Music (pEHM) were offered as one of the major fields.

In the delivery of its service to the people, MSC School of Education is tested by providing quality education to the youth of Marinduque in terms of high passing percentage in Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET), and employability of its graduates and performance in the field of instructions and administrations. MSC-SED continuously commit itself in preparing educators imbued with ideals, aspirations and traditions of Philippine life and culture who could assume major roles in national and global development.
